TRAVEL CONVERSATION STARTERS

Do you find it easy to start conversations with people you don't know?

Long journeys pass quicker if you have someone to talk to.

Use looks like to start a conversation.

On the airplane:
The “fasten your seatbelt” sign has just come on. Looks like we are in for some turbulance.

At the airport:

2. Do you think I could….?

Use do you think I could to politely ask for something from a stranger.

On the airplane:
Do you think I could borrow your newspaper when you have finished with it?

At the airport:
Do you think I could use your pen to complete this form?

3. I couldn't help noticing….

Use I couldn't help noticing to start a conversation with someone.

On the airplane:
I couldn't help noticing that you are reading a guide about Turkey. Are you going there on vacation?
